"Return of the prodigal son."
The story of the prodigal son is illustrating death that is brought about by the carnal mind. The son abandoned his father, spent all his inheritance to live a sinful life and finally found himself eating with pigs. In desperation when he came to himself he decided to change something in his life. He returned to his father and regretted everything that he had done. His father embraced him, blessed him and threw a party, because his son had returned. When the father saw him approaching, he said: "My son was dead and is alive again, was lost and is found!"
His son wasn't dead physically, neither did his sonship abolish. But because he rejected his father and followed carnal thinking, he separated himself from his father's protection and care.
If we follow the ways of this world then we are as prodigal sons. God longs for us to repent, another words that we would renew our minds and turn to Him. We have an opportunity to live under His protection and care an abundant life already here on earth and later on in eternity.
